Funerals for loved ones & pets

I am deeply passionate about my role as a Funeral Celebrant.

Together, we work to generate a personal and professional Funeral Service to tastefully farewell your loved one with dignity and respect.  

I can also assist with arranging pre-planned Funerals.

What can you expect?

First Contact:

  • Usually by phone from a family member, a friend or your chosen funeral director.
  • If available I will contact the next of kin or those to be in charge of the funeral.
  • At this stage I would establish a commitment and arrange a meeting with the family

Scheduled Meeting:

  • This meeting provides valuable time for gathering information that will formulate the basis of the ceremony.  
  • It is usually held at the home of the deceased or their family or friends.  
  • Practical details to be obtained at this meeting include the following:
    • Deceased’s full name
    • The name by which the deceased will be known by during the ceremony
    • Age
    • Date of death
    • Next of kin name, address and phone number
    • Family of deceased
    • Names of nearest and dearest
    • Where and when the Funeral will be held
    • Who the Funeral Director will be along with their contact details
    • The preferred choice between Burial or Cremation
  • The Creative Planning process:
    • This is where I listen and learn the story of the deceased.  The good, the bad, the honest truth, to understand what sort of person they were.
    • We establish how the family would like the deceased portrayed
    • We discuss ideas and preferences the family may have in areas such as:
      • music, readings and songs for the ceremony
      • whether you would like candles
      • the overall theme
      • the amount of input you wish your Celebrant to have
  • Eulogy/Life narrative
    • A decision is reached on who will deliver the Eulogy
    • If you would like your Celebrant to do this, I will then liaise with a family member

At the conclusion of this meeting we will have a clear overview of the Funeral Ceremony from beginning to end. This will include the readings, everyones roles and responsibilities e.g who is to manage the design of service sheets, sourcing music and the deadlines for these aspects.  A draft of the specific order of events, relevant details for burial or cremation and outline of Ceremony will be emailed to the family within 48 hours of our meeting.

Confirmation:

  • I will request confirmation from the family for the full Ceremony
  • I will liaise closely with the Funeral Director throughout the entire process

Funeral Ceremony:

  • I will arrive early 30-40 mins prior to Ceremony beginning
  • All practical details will be checked
  • I will meet with any necessary staff
  • I will be there to greet the mourners
  • At the allotted time, I will then officiate the Funeral Ceremony, keeping flexible with my time as required
  • I am happy to stay briefly

  • Follow up:
  • If the Funeral Director has not included my services fee, a separate invoice will be sent.
  • I will contact you to share a brief reflection on the Funeral Ceremony and to request:
    • a written testimonial for my website to share your experience
    • permission to add you to my database so we can keep in touch
